Monday 27th October 2008 WPT To Put Poker On MySpace
Last week’s appointment of Thomas Flahie as interim Chief Financial Officer for World Poker Tour (WPT) Enterprises Incorporated has already borne fruit with the announcement that the firm has signed an agreement with the MySpace.com social network.
Flahie previously served as the Chief Financial Officer for Intermix Media Incorporated where he helped refocus the company on its core businesses and build the MySpace.com website. The Los Angeles-based poker media and entertainment company revealed that it will now join forces with MySpace.com to create the first fully integrated poker destination featuring games and content for members.
WPT announced that its MySpace.com community at MySpace.com/ClubWPT would deliver a unique poker experience with must-see content for both poker die-hards and casual fans including expert tips and tricks, player profiles, video clips, tournament news and behind the scenes videos from the World Poker Tour and new ClubWPT.com television series.
“MySpace.com is bringing a new dimension of entertainment to users with this integrated WPT poker hub and providing an easy and fun way for users to play poker with friends on MySpace.com,” said Angela Courtin, Senior Vice-President of Marketing, Entertainment and Content for MySpace.com.
“MySpace.com has a balance of a social community base and a global portal platform that allows brands like WPT to create great online entertainment experiences for our users.”
The hub will also feature a free multiplayer poker game developed by Oberon, MySpace.com’s online games partner, allowing members to compete against each other virtually in real time in both live and private tournaments.
