EPT event kicks off in Budapest

The European Poker Tour (EPT) touches down in Hungary for the first time ever this week with a five-day tournament in Budapest.

Running from October 28th to November 1st, EPT Budapest takes place at the Hungarian capital's Sofitel Hotel, which houses the prestigious Las Vegas Casino.

According to the EPT, the €4,350 (£3,475) event will feature over 100 online qualifiers and is set to be a sell-out, with a cap of 500 players set before today's opening session.

Top players from around Europe will join a number of rising Hungarian stars in the tournament, which welcomes recent World Poker Tour winner Bertrand Grospellier to the table.

The Frenchman, who took down the Festa Al Lago in Las Vegas last week, takes his place in the field alongside EPT player of the year Luca Pagano and other well-known faces such as England's Victoria Coren.

Valdemar Kwaysser, champion at the first Latin American Poker Tour event earlier this year, is just one of several highly-rated Hungarians taking part, with Denes Kalo and Richard Toth also in the field.
