World Series of Poker 2008 main table imminent

As we approach what will be the most eagerly awaited and most watched poker event in history of the game it seems as though each and every player is finally putting together their plans of attack and their strategies for the big day. When you consider the millions of dollars up for grabs and the realisation that even last place on the main table will guarantee a $900,000 pay cheque there really is some serious money to play for.<br /> <br /> The fact that the event will be televised, with the obvious short delay in broadcasting to protect players from card cam, is sure to see a massive spike in poker player numbers around the world. Poker is a sport which seems to be immune from the ongoing credit crunch and economic slowdown and it will be interesting to see the overall impact which WSOP 2008 has on the sport once it his over.<br /> <br /> As for the overall winner of the event it looks as though it is between Dennis Phillips, Ivan Demidov, Scott Montgomery and Peter Eastgate. However there has been some interest of late in David Rheem and he could be an interesting outsider to keep a very close eye on.
