US presidential candidates look to secure the gambling vote

As we approach the final hours of the US presidential campaign both Obama and McCain are looking to secure as many votes as possible which has very much brought the poker industry and in particular the online poker community into play. Initially it had been thought that McCain was the better choice for those looking for the reinstatement of online poker but there is a growing feeling that Obama may be the man to carry the fight.

However, those voting on who they perceive to be the best man for the US online gambling industry should look again at those who have promised so much but delivered so little. Historically many promises have been made and broken in the final hours of many US presidential elections and there is a need to be cautious and consider the needs of the US as a whole and the online gambling industry separately.

These politicians are very good at suggesting potential moves without actually promising anything and therefore not really breaking their promises when they fail to deliver. However, McCain is the only candidate who has a background in the casino industry and despite calls to the contrary he is still the main supporter of the online gambling industry when looking at the two candidates.
