Do you ever review your historic poker hands?

Over the last few months there has been a trend towards poker players looking back at their old hands and seeing what they did right and what they did wrong, although there is a debate as to whether it is worthwhile. However, many experts in the industry suggest that by looking back at how players react in specific situations it is possible to project this forward and learn from mistakes or classic moves.

As with any other skill-based game, those who believe they have reached the top of the poker tree are the ones most in danger of falling off. Looking back at how you reacted to certain hands, certain cards being laid, certain situations and whether you would act the same again can be a very useful tool for the future. In line with this new trend we have seen a number of software companies issue packages which can record your hands and allow you to review them at a later date.

When you consider the comparison between a multi-million dollar winner and someone who has reached the main table of events such as WSOP, the difference can be minimal. If you are able to increase your skill by even a couple of percentage points this could make all the difference.
