Dane Wins Online Poker Tournament

The final event of the fourth annual Ladbrokes European Online Championship of Poker (LEOCOP) kicked off on Sunday night with Danish player ‘hahila’ eventually walking away with $229,500. LEOCOP was billed as ‘Europe’s longest running online poker championship’ and began on October 26 with 15 consecutive days of events including no-limit, fixed and pot-limit Texas hold'em and pot-limit OMAHA and pot-limit OMAHA high-low with a mixture of freezeout and re-buy structures. It culminated in the $120,000 Masters Event freeroll with a prize pool worth $918,000. 'We attracted a good field and the money added generated a record-breaking prize pool of gigantic proportions for the 600-plus runners,” said Edward Ihre, Managing Director for Poker.Ladbrokes.com. “Poker pros that are experts in spotting the best value tournaments online made sure they took their seats in the last night of the LEOCOP festival. Former World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet winners, WSOP final tablists and a final tablist in the WSOP Europe were just some of the few familiar poker circuit names that made an appearance as they tried to secure their slice of the LEOCOP IV main event massive online prize pool. 'Poker.Ladbrokes.com is really proving to be a lucky talisman for the Danes. At the same time ‘hahila’ was dominating the final table and eventually winning nearly $230,000 after over 14 hours of play, Peter Eastgate, who flew out to Las Vegas as part of Team Ladbrokes in July of this year, was bossing the WSOP final table.” Despite taking an early chip lead, online player ‘Benno26’ finished in second spot for $130,815 but will be invited to take part in the Masters Event next Saturday along with the winners of each festival event for the last remaining seat in the semi-final of the televised Poker Million event guaranteeing a minimum $20,000 payout.
