Website gambling ads targeted

Pop-up ads, banner-ads, jazzy flash ads on gambling websites could be a thing of the past if the Department of Justice (DOJ) has its way. The assistant U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri subpoenaed on Sept. 9

The subpoenas state that all records pertaining to advertisements by Internet gaming establishments dating back to 1997 would be under scrutiny. For now, scores of subpoens have been sent out the department, but now restrictive action has been taken.

Despite U.S legal restrictions, credit card wrangles and now the subpeonas the online gambling juggernaut moves on each year from strength to strength since 1996 with revenues pegged at $6.3 billion for 2003 and expected to touch $7.6 billion in 2004, according to Christiansen Capital Advisors LLC.
