Brian McFadden chasing Star City’s poker championship

While Brian McFadden may be best known for his musical interests he is a regular face on the celebrity poker scene and recently flew to Australia in pursuit of a $1 million cash prize at the Star city poker championship. McFadden has been on the up and up in the poker scene and has appeared in a number of high-profile competitions of late but this $1 million prize pot would be his largest to date if he is successful.<br /> <br /> The Star City championship ends this Sunday when the winner will be revealed and receive a $1 million prize pot. Even though Star city and other major casino operations in Australasia have been suffering of late, the demand for this tournament is as high as ever. On the back of a successful World Series of Poker it looks as though the industry is still enjoying something of a honeymoon period at least for the larger tournaments.<br /> <br /> Poker has been one of the success stories of the Australian economy of late as more and more states look to increase their exposure to the sector which will increase their tax fall and revenue generating potential. The Australian system is now very similar to that in the US where many states depend on their casino income to make up any shortfall in their budgets.
