Amateur poker player bags the $1 million Star City jackpot

Martin Rowe is today $1 million better off after bagging the $1 million jackpot in the Star City Asian Pacific Tour poker grand final. The insurance worker from Sydney Australia lasted the full six days and managed to beat approaching 500 players from around the globe. He finished his final hand with two queens and two aces to take home his biggest prize to date.<br /> <br /> While many areas of the world have seen reduced interest in poker, Australia has benefited more than most and these large jackpot games are attracting players from all over the world. Amateurs, professionals and those just starting the game were all in attendance to experience the thrills and spills of big-money poker.<br /> <br /> The fact that an amateur poker player has managed to take on and beat hundreds of professionals will give many new starts a lift in their pursuit of the big money. However, the drinks are on Martin Rowe tonight as it finally begins to sink in that he is now a dollar millionaire. Whether he now decides to move to a professional poker player remains to be seen but it looks as though Martin Rowe has the credentials to make a living from the game.
