Online Casino and Harvard To Combat Gambling Addiction

Harvard Medical School is one of the greatest names in education and research. Alumni of the prestigious halls include several field leaders in chemistry, biology, dentistry and all other walks of medicine. Together with Bwin, the online casino network behind PokerRoom and other popular online gambling sites, they are aiming to create responsible gaming conditions to minimise problem gambling. Manfred Bodner, CEO of Bwin, says, 'We need to understand what goes on in consumers' minds and be able to answer fundamental questions about online gaming based on scientific evidence - and not based on speculation. Ultimately, we are interested in creating behavioural models capable of predicting certain outcomes.' The ongoing five-year study in association with The Division on Addictions at the Cambridge Health Alliance is an effort to identify, prevent, and mitigate gambling-related problems, including age verification and compulsive gambling. Nearly 50,000 players’ data will be analysed in the study.
