So can you learn watching poker on TV?

The last few months have seen a substantial increase in the number of people watching poker on TV, as a consequence of the success of the World Series of poker. The interesting cam which allows viewers to see the hands of each and every player on the table has opened the eyes of many poker players around the world but can you actually learn by watching poker on TV?

In some ways you could argue that the player cam is in some way taking away the surprise element of poker as in your mind you are focused upon all of the hands in place rather than thinking what you would do with any one hand. If it were possible to read only one hand, of your choice, then TV poker games would perhaps offer a more interesting educational tool as you could effectively "put yourself there".

It would be interesting to see how this phenomenon develops as poker on TV has the potential to be a massive learning curve for those looking at the sport. Putting aside the actual hands in play it can still be interesting to watch the characteristics and personalities of each and every player around the table because everyone is different and everyone does things their own way.
