So you want to be a poker champion?

As the popularity of poker continue to spiral higher many new players to the sport are looking at ways they can increase their experience and knowledge in as short a space of time as possible. While it would be foolish to suggest there are in fact any significant shortcuts to the top of the poker tree there are many ways in which you can increase your knowledge of the sport and the way it is played.<br /> <br /> Study player styles<br /> <br /> The ability to watch player styles both online and off-line is something which will open your mind up to how people react to good hands, to bad hands and to bluffs. This is a vital element of the game and one which you should try to master as soon as possible.<br /> <br /> Do not take gambles all the time<br /> <br /> While there are many players both online and off-line who are willing to take a chance in return for a possible big win this is not the long-term style to use. There's nothing wrong with taking a chance every now and again but the more chances you take the more chance you have of losing out. One big loss could literally wipe out all of your gains.<br /> <br /> There are many more elements to playing poker which will cover in due course.<br />
