A profile of Raymond Rahme

Born in 1945 Raymond Rahme is one of the older stars of the worldwide poker scene although this South African gentleman has certainly taken the sport by storm. He was the first African to reach the finals table of the World Series of Poker main event where he bagged an impressive $3 million. He also finished fourth in the all African Poker Championships which is the largest tournament on the African continent and has brought many stars to the sport.<br /> <br /> Raymond Rahme left school at 15 with very little education and very early on decided that gambling was his forte. Illegal gambling dens and connections with the gambling fraternity in Africa brought about a number of impressive wins and a business empire which includes construction, car dealerships, nightclubs, bookmaking and restaurants to name but a few.<br /> <br /> Don’t be fooled by his non-aggressive older looks because Raymond Rahme is as ruthless as any other poker star on the scene and continues to earn big bucks from the game. He has a reputation in South Africa which has been untouched by any other rising star from the continent and is treat with great respect in poker circle. This from a man who claims that poker is nothing but a hobby!
