Is Anurag Dikshit set to join forces with US authorities?

Party Gaming founder Anurag Dikshit has already agreed a $300 million settlement with the US authorities in relation to the alleged "illegal" trading by his company in US markets. We have already commented on his guilty plea in court but it looks as though he is set to join forces with US authorities who are investigating the online gambling industry. Bizarrely he will not be sentenced for at least two years and even then many observers expect him to serve no actual time in jail if he cooperates with the authorities.<br /> <br /> There is confusion as to whether the US authorities are looking at further fines for industry players or a regulatory system which will bring in significant tax revenue for the country and place the US authorities at the centre of the online gaming industry. There have been suggestions that Congress may well look to lift the effective online ban over the next few months with President Obama known to be a particular fan of poker.<br /> <br /> It will be interesting to see how the appointment of the new president affects or does not affect the online poker industry at the time when the off-line casino is sector is struggling in a very big way.
