Poker comes to the aid of the Paralysed Veterans of America

A set of two poker tournaments to benefit the Paralysed Veterans of America has attracted some of the largest names in poker and entertainment. So far we have seen the likes of Ben Affleck, Andy Bloch, Lee Childs, Senator Alfonso D’Amato, Richard Petty, Kyle Petty, Mike Sexton and Montel Williams take up the challenge for this worthwhile cause. The events will take place at the Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas on February 26 and the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill, Washington DC.<br /> <br /> As well as publicising this popular US cause the poker event will include a number of meet and greet opportunities, a poker clinic, silent auctions and an array of prizes up for grabs. Despite being over six weeks away the event has already caught the eye of the US public, US poker players and the US entertainment industry. Hopes are high that not only will the Paralysed Veterans of America cause receive substantial coverage in the press but significant amounts of money should be raised.<br /> <br /> Poker is often criticised as a game of greed and manipulation although more and more we are seeing charitable events such as the above catch the eye of poker players around the world and benefit many good causes.
