TiltWare Files For Dismissal

In the United States, leading online poker software developer TiltWare LLC has filed a twelve-page motion for dismissal in response to a lawsuit brought against it by player Cycalona ‘Clonie’ Gowen. TiltWare is the firm behind online poker room FullTiltPoker.com and filed its petition last week with the United States District Court in Las Vegas in conjunction with 13 professional poker players also named in Gowen’s mid-November suit. Gowen had been a sponsored player for the Alderney-licensed FullTiltPoker.com since its establishment in 2004 but was informed in November that her services were no longer required and that her image would be removed from promotional materials. Her 20-page lawsuit claims that she had accepted a one percent share in FullTiltPoker.com at the time of its launch in lieu of any monetary compensation and subsequently promoted the site in exchange for that interest. The former beauty queen alleges that every other sponsored pro working for FullTiltPoker.com received distribution cheques in May except her. Gowen then demanded monies owed to her at that time and was offered $250,000, which she refused as it was only a fraction of what she claimed she was owed. She stated that the site is worth an estimated four billion dollars and that she has still not been given a reason as to why she did not receive any distribution payments when every other sponsored player had. The TiltWare motion was filed by solicitors working for Olson, Cannon, Gormley and Desruisseaux of Las Vegas and asks that the case be dismissed and for Gowen to refine her charges before re-filing. It also requests that the individual players named in the lawsuit, which include Howard Lederer, Phil Ivey, Chris Ferguson, Mike Matusow and Patrik Antonius, be removed.
