Barack Obama sees poker players swamp his site

In a move which could prove rather embarrassing if he does not follow through on his promise, President-elect Barack Obama has seen his submissions and proposal site swamped by poker players demanding that the online ban is lifted as soon as possible. Among the many ideas and suggestions on the site, the poker idea seems to have caught the imagination of the US public and is now number two in Barack Obama's "list of things to do". But will it really make a difference?

The problem for the President-elect is that the site was set up to harvest suggestions from voters and the public and they have done that in their droves. Quite how he can could turn round and ignore the poker suggestion now that it has reached number two in his popularity list is worrying for the president's advises. If he does nothing he faces a severe backlash before he even enters office but if he follows the poker community’s wishes he could be seen to be trying to curry favour with the massive gambling market.

It will be interesting to see how Barack Obama copes with the demands of US office at a time when taxes are falling, unemployment is rising and the poker community are still furious that they have been deprived of their right to play online poker.
