Are games consoles feeding the growth in gambling?

While there has been a significant increase in the number of casinos, both online and off-line, around the world over the last few years there has also been a significant increase in the number of gambling related games console software. Casinos and poker games are now commonplace on the likes of the PlayStation, the Wii and the Nintendo but there are concerns that this is feeding the growth in gambling. Is this true?

As any gambler will tell you, whether they play non-traditional casino games or poker in particular, you cannot beat practise at your chosen "sport" which is something that games consoles have given to many people. The chance to play for fun money is something which has attracted a vast array of people who are interested in playing the likes of poker but are possibly a little nervous of "sitting at the table".

As we all know, you can read as many books as you like, you can watch as much TV as you like but at the end of the day you cannot beat the experience of a long term poker or casino game. Learning theory is obviously part of the overall learning process but putting that theory into practice is a whole different ball game. Games consoles have been the answer for many younger players in the sector as their lifelike game play can be very helpful!
