F1 star Robert Kubica likes his poker

He may race around various F1 tracks at speeds in excess of 150 miles an hour, he may earn more in a year than many people earn in their lifetime but F1 star Robert Kubica likes nothing better than to sit down and have a game of poker with his friends after the trials and tribulations of his F1 racing career. So what is it about poker which attracts many sports stars from many different arenas? Ultimately poker is a game which can instil an often ruthless competitive streak, very much like the competitive streak the top sports stars need to have. Poker can be of very strange game in that it is bizarrely therapeutic, can actually be calming, allows players to escape their everyday lives for a short period of time and also offers you the option to annihilate your opponent. There are very few sports which can offer the massive range of emotions which go through the mind of each and every poker player. Let's not kid ourselves that everyone who sits down at the poker table, or those playing online, does not believe that they are the best player in the world when the good hands are dealt and believe they have the worst luck in the world when the bad hands are dealt! However, knowing when to play, when to walk away and when to run are three vital elements of any poker players psyche, something very much in common with sports stars of today.
