APT Players Donating To Charity

The Asian Poker Tour (APT) has announced that the six members of its leading Poker Pack sponsored team will put up a piece of their play at the 2009 Aussie Millions in aid of the Shane Warne Foundation children’s charity. The charitable initiative is being run in collaboration with leading poker staking website ChipMeUp.PokerNews.com, which allows players to buy or sell shares of themselves at some of the world’s biggest live and online events. The Poker Pack is a team of specially selected players of Asian origin that serve as ambassadors for the APT. Consisting of Steve Sung, Quinn Do, Nam Le, JC Tran, David ‘Chino’ Rheem and Kwang Soo Lee, the Pack has over $22 million in live tournament winnings between them and have already made huge waves on the world poker circuit as both individuals and as an effective team. Each member of the team will put up five percent of themselves from the Aussie Millions main event, which features a guaranteed first prize of just over $1.29 million. Any funds raised will then go to the Shane Warne Foundation, which distributes monies to established charities that provide help and services to children. The Foundation accepts submissions from charities that are in dire need of equipment or services. The APT was acquired last year by AsianLogic Limited, a leading online and land-based gaming company focused on the Asia-Pacific markets, and will hold its next event at the Dusit Thani Manila Hotel in the Philippines with an estimated prize pool of over one million dollars. In addition, two members of ChipMeUp.PokerNews.com that snapped up shares in the Poker Pack before the Australian tournament started, ‘hktom’ and ‘coughshamen’, have also pledged to donate any winnings from their purchased allocations to charity.
