How do you play poker?

As with so many games which are popular around the world, poker is a game which is simple in principle but often very complicated in practice. There are so many different ways to play the game, play your opponents and tactics which you can introduce to the mix. However, many of these tactics and strategies can be split into two different groups, gut feeling or playing the statistics game. You will find that many professionals who reach the top echelons of the game will use a mixture of gut feeling, bluffing and working out the probability of certain cards appearing. In many ways using one of the two groups above will not see you reach the higher levels of the poker industry although it may well allow you to pick up some pocket money online. Those playing the gut feeling strategy often have a very good understanding of the game and rather than depend upon the probability of cards appearing they tend to read opponents. Those playing the statistics game will appreciate and recognise each card which is dealt and the chances of an opponent or opponents being in a position to beat their hand. No one strategy or one tactic is right or wrong and it really is a case of "horses for courses".
