Boss Media IPN Outperforms Non US-Facing Competitors

Online poker traffic ranking website PokerSiteScout.com has revealed that the International Poker Network (IPN) from Boss Media AB outperformed all other non US-facing poker networks over the fourth quarter of last year. PokerSiteScout.com reported that the IPN saw a 14 percent increase in active daily players when compared with the previous quarter. In addition, it reported a 22 percent rise in maximum concurrent players and an increase of 28 percent in daily registrations to make it the fastest growing independent European network in 2008. “I’m delighted with our progress,” said Rahul Parekh, Chief Executive Officer for Boss Media. “Following the acquisition of Boss Media by GTech in the second quarter of 2008, we recognised that we had some challenges and opportunities to address. While we still have more work ahead of us, we’re heading firmly in the right direction.” The growth of the Network has been fed by strong player acquisition, which has been supported by the launch of its one million Euro guaranteed tournament alongside its own Bad Beat Jackpot with a pot currently standing at €200,000. In addition, Boss Media became one of the first to launch its own poker network for Italian players in partnership with Lottomatica Scomesse, a leading gaming operator. This move saw Stockholm-based Boss become the only European supplier for four poker networks and have more than 100,000 players using its software every day. “With our substantial increase in technical resources and capacity well underway, we expect to surge forward on this positive path,” said Bjorn Lundsten, Poker Product Manager for Boss Media. “Our licensees and lottery customers can look forward to the benefits of our investments in the coming months.”
