Gowen Re-Files Lawsuit

In America, professional poker player Cycalona ‘Clonie’ Gowen has filed an amended lawsuit in the United States District Court in Las Vegas against Full Tilt Poker and a host of related companies and players. Gowen is claiming breech of contract and asking for $40 million in compensation after she was allegedly given a one percent share in parent firm TiltWare LLC when it launched in 2004 in return for promoting the brand. TiltWare filed a twelve-page motion for dismissal last month through solicitors working for Olson, Cannon, Gormley and Desruisseaux of Las Vegas and asked Gowen to refine her charges before re-filing. The action also requested that the individual players named in the lawsuit, which include Howard Lederer, Phil Ivey, Chris Ferguson, Mike Matusow and Patrik Antonius, be removed. Gowen’s amended action has not only kept the original defendants but has added two more along with seven causes of action while stating additional facts on which the case is based. The former beauty queen had been a sponsored player for Alderney-licensed FullTiltPoker.com since its establishment but she was informed in November that her services would no longer be required and that her image would be removed from promotional materials. The lawsuit alleges that every other sponsored pro working for FullTiltPoker.com received distribution cheques in May except her. She also claims that when she demanded monies owed to her, she was only offered $250,000, which she refused as it was only a fraction of what she claimed she was owed. She stated that the site is worth an estimated four billion dollars and that she has still not been given a reason as to why she did not receive any distribution payments when every other sponsored player had.
