CelebPoker Launches ICOP

European licensed online poker room CelebPoker.com has announced a special tournament that is set to run for one week next month and offer a guaranteed prize pool of at least €600,000. The International Championship Of Online Poker (ICOP) will begin on March 9 and run until March 15 with satellites beginning at CelebPoker.com from February 23. As an extra incentive to the best players in the series, three percent of the total prize pool is being set aside and awarded to the top three players based on points over the whole competition. Points will be awarded to the top 30 players in each event, which means that, in addition to winning prizes, the top player over the course of the series could take home an additional estimated €10,000. Half of that three percent will go to the top points scorer while 30 percent will go to the second-placed player while the remaining 20 percent will be set aside for the third-placed competitor. CelebPoker.com stated that the ICOP is expected to feature a total pot in excess of €600,000 and represents a great opportunity for players to enjoy its new draw tournaments such as Omaha, Omaha Hi-Lo and five and seven-card stud. The online poker site already holds tournaments that award at least four million Euros each month and stated that March would see it run freerolls worth €4,000. It also holds major tournaments each Sunday featuring prize pools of €100,000 and €250,000 and players can take part through regular satellites with buy-ins from €2.50 to €20.
