Leading online poker room PartyPoker.com is offering players the chance to win a seat for the Main Event at the upcoming Canadian Open Poker Championships for as little as four dollars.
Through a series of satellites, players can qualify to earn a package including travel, accommodation and their buy-in to the Main Event.
'This is a terrific opportunity for players around the world to compete in what I believe to be the purest form of the game,' said Kelly Kelner, President and Chief Executive Officer for HeadsUp Entertainment International Incorporated, owner and operator of The Canadian Poker Tour.
'The heads-up bracket format with best two out of three matches, $10,000 in starting chips and 20-minute blinds allows the cream to rise to the top and I look forward to crowning a new champion in May.'
The Canadian Open Poker Championships are scheduled to take place from May 13 to 17 at the Stampede Casino in Calgary, Alberta, and will be televised on The Score Television Network, the official broadcaster of The Canadian Poker Tour. The tournament will feature an estimated prize pool of over one million dollars, cumulating in the 128-player $5,000 buy-in heads-up Main Event.
The 2008 competition attracted professional poker players and celebrities from around the world while World Series Of Poker (WSOP) 1996 champion Huckleberry Seed took the Main Event.
'This is best structure of any heads-up event I have played in,' said professional poker player Joe Hachem, WSOP 2005 champion.
