When Paddy Power brought horse racing and poker together

As we approach the start of the Cheltenham racing festival on 10 March, well-known Irish bookmaker Paddy Power has revealed a whole host of poker events which will coincide with the four-day event. As you might expect from a bookmaker, the various events have been given names which coincide with the horse racing festival such as the five furlong tournament, the Champion hurdle tournament, the Champion Chase tournament and the ultimate, the Gold Cup tournament.<br /> <br /> Paddy Power has been very proactive on the poker scene over the last few years after finding a direct relationship between online gamblers and online poker players. However, the Cheltenham horse racing festival is the bread and butter of one of the U.K.'s best-known bookmakers and will attract literally millions of pounds over the course of the four-day event. We will see some of the best horses in the world on show, the best jockeys and the best trainers in what has become one of the premier horse racing events in the UK.<br /> <br /> It will be interesting to see how the poker event is received as a large number of traditional Paddy Power clients may well be in the mood for a flutter after a day at the races!
