Cancelled LAPT Final Table Resumes, Cox Wins

In December last year 242 players paid $2,500 (or less via internet qualification) to play in the Latin American Poker Tour, Nuevo Vallarta. The PokerStars tour’s Mexico stop was successful and featured pros such as Greg Raymer. However, the gaming commission abruptly cancelled the tournament and players were escorted from the room. At the time each of the 89 players remaining was given $5,000 and told to wait for updates. PokerStars then conducted an online freeroll to take the tournament to a final table of nine players. Originally the plan was to play out the final table at the LAPT Chile stop earlier this year. However, the plan was revised and it was played out on Tuesday afternoon at LAPT Uruguay with PokerStars adding $50,000 to the prize pool. Rory Cox began the day with almost half the chips in play and three times more than his nearest opponent, however the dangerous pro Victor Ramdin was present. Despite this, Cox overcame the field to take down first place and $15,000.
