Sports Legends Challenge Partners With World Poker Store

The World Poker Store Incorporated has signed an agreement to serve as the official marketing partner for the inaugural Sports Legends Challenge, which will take place in the Bahamas this September. Presented by AbsolutePoker.net, the Sports Legends Challenge will see fans from around the world compete with and against 25 sporting icons including Troy Aikman, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Richard Petty and Sugar Ray Leonard in a range of poker tournaments for up to ten million dollars in prize money. Due to take place from September 14 to 17 at the Atlantis Paradise Island hotel and resort, the Sports Legends Challenge will also see 25 top professional poker players including Phil Hellmuth, Annie Duke, Chris Moneymaker and Johnny Chan competing. The feature game, the Sports Legends All-Star Poker Challenge, will feature the legends, pros and top-finishing competitors battling it out in a winner-take-all no-limit Texas hold'em grand finale due to be televised throughout the US on Thanksgiving Day through Fox Sports. 'We are excited about our strategic alliance with The World Poker Store as the event at Atlantis is just the beginning,” said Bruce Bibbero, Chief Executive Officer for the Sports Legends Challenge. “It is our plan to hold events internationally and give fans around the world the opportunity to interact with their sports legends in ways they never imagined possible. These events will feature legends from soccer, cricket, auto racing, rugby and more with the first event to be held in London in 2010.' Seats to the inaugural event will be awarded through The World Poker Store's Bar Poker League with members competing in free Texas hold'em tournaments in the US. The World Poker Store stated that it would also award future seats through its International Bar Poker League, which is hosted in Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium, China, Canada and Mexico, alongside its expanding world league.
