Playtech Strengthens French Presence

Playtech, a leading global designer, developer and licensor of software for the online and mobile gaming industries, has strengthened its presence in the soon-to-be-regulated French market by signing an agreement that sees ChiliPoker.com become a direct licensee. ChiliPoker.com has been running on Playtech’s platform as a sub-licensee through one of the Isle Of Man-based developer’s other licensees and recently signed an agreement with Free, France’s second largest Internet service provider, to offer its gaming services to twelve million users. Playtech called ChiliPoker.com a ‘key strategic licensee given its knowledge and presence in the French gaming market’ and stated that this latest deal reaffirms its ‘ongoing strategy to diversify into newly regulated markets’. France recently published draft regulations concerning Internet gambling that could take effect as early as next January should they be approved by Parliament. 'We are delighted to have consolidated our relationship with ChiliPoker.com in reaching an agreement for it to become a direct licensee,” said Mor Weizer, Chief Executive Officer for Playtech. “The French gaming market offers huge potential for gaming operators and we will be looking more closely at establishing our foothold here in advance of the gambling regulation coming into force next year.”
