Calvin is Back On-Ayre

Arguably one of the online gaming industry’s most successful pioneers, Calvin Ayre is a man who has already done enough in his ambitious career to afford the luxury of retiring from active Bodog duty in April last year. However, the charismatic billionaire and founder of the Bodog Entertainment Empire is back in the limelight, and is currently in the UK promoting a variety of key messages. Calvin’s involvement in Bodog is now through BodogBrand.com, which was launched in 2005 as a venture to broaden the scope of the Bodog brand by licensing it and other intellectual property on a franchise model to independent operators, the newest of which (the poker network) is due to be announced in September. Ayre’s current focus also includes two new media projects that will be concentrated at bodoglife.com (general Bodog lifestyle content with a retail audience) and CalvinAyre.com (an industry tablog that will also include Calvin’s personal blog). The entrepreneur now solely focuses on global branding work for the Bodog group of licenses having moved away from gaming operations following the introduction of the Unlawful Internet Gambling and Enforcement Act in 2006. He maintains that he has no interest in returning to gaming in the future. Bodog.com (the legal battle to reinstate the .com URL having been successfully negotiated) is now owned by Morris Mohawk Gaming Group and is the home of the US facing business, but will also become a global portal to Bodog brands when the new geotargeting system is completed. The other Bodog licensed properties are www.bodog.co.uk (Europe), www.bodog.ca (Canada), www.bodog88.com (Asia) and the soon to be announced, www.bodogpoker.com.
