Wednesday 24th June 2009 AbsolutePoker.com Signs Vengrin
Adding to its roster of professional sponsored players, leading online poker site AbsolutePoker.com has announced the signing of 24-year-old competitor Matt Vengrin.
AbsolutePoker.com, which is a member of the Cereus Poker Network, is in the process of building a roster of sponsored poker players and revealed that the Texas hold'em champ has been on the radar of a number of its competitors for some time.
'I am honoured and humbled that I was chosen to help represent AbsolutePoker.com,' said Vengrin.
'I believe in the brand and look forward to a long-term relationship working side by side with the management team.'
Vengrin has won over $717,000 playing online poker at sites such as UltimateBet.com, FullTiltPoker.com and PokerStars.com in just over two years. The New York native has amassed five top-ten finishes in several popular online poker tournaments already this year including a ninth place showing in the first event of UltimateBet.com's Online Championship, a pot-limit Omaha tournament, for $1,800. Other notable 2009 online finishes include winning a recent no-limit hold'em event for $61,600 and a runners-up spot in a $100,000 tournament for $21,327.
The pro has also won close to $400,000 at land-based competitions and, most recently, finished strong in Event Nine at the 2009 Aussie Millions for nearly $10,000. Vengrin also collected $6,670 at UltimateBet.com’s 2008 Aruba Poker Classic and took home $167,973 for a third place finish in Event 29 at the 2008 World Series Of Poker.
Vengrin will compete on the online poker site under the username ‘mattvengrin’ and players can use AbsolutePoker.com’s free Absolute Buddy software to discover where the pro is seated.
