Friday 17th July 2009 GamCare Endorses Poker In The Park
Leading poker publication Bluff Europe has revealed that its third annual Poker In The Park festival next month has been endorsed by British registered problem gambling charity GamCare.
Europe’s largest annual poker festival, Poker In The Park will take place from five o’clock in the afternoon until half-past nine in the evening on August 13 from the heart of London’s Leicester Square. The action will also carry on over August 14 from noon until half-past nine in the evening.
Poker In The Park will also see professional players including Neil Channing, Nick Persaud, Ian Frazer, Paul Jackson and Kara Scott signing autographs and answering questions. They will be on-hand to offer their personal insights into the multi-faceted world of poker to the 15,000 enthusiasts expected to attend over the two days.
“It is of pinnacle importance that Poker In The Park promotes poker as a safe and enjoyable activity for everyone who attends,” said Michael Caselli, Editor-In-Chief for Bluff Europe.
“Thus, for the third year in a row we have invited GamCare to participate in this fantastic event. We want to make sure that every poker player knows about GamCare and knows that they are an integral part of the poker fraternity.”
GamCare is the leading national authority on the provision of advice, practical help, support and counselling to address the social impacts of gambling. The non-profit organisation takes a non-judgemental approach and will attend Poker In The Park to offer leaflets and advice on the merits of responsible gambling.
“GamCare recognises that most gamblers play responsibly and enjoy the game,” said Andy McLellan, Chief Executive Officer for GamCare.
“For anyone who finds that it’s no longer enjoyable and has difficulty sticking to their limits, we provide a range of support and strategies to help them get back in control.
