Wednesday 22nd July 2009 Charity Poker Tournament For Poker In The Park
Top American professional poker player Jamie Gold has revealed that he will be holding a charity tournament at The Casino At The Empire during next month’s Poker In The Park festival.
The Jamie Gold Charity Poker Tournament will be co-hosted by last year’s World Series Of Poker champion, Peter Eastgate, and is set to commence at half-past seven in the evening on August 13 from The Casino At The Empire’s Shadow Lounge.
Designed to raise money for the Jamie Gold Foundation’s numerous charities, the event will be a 50-player no-limit Texas hold’em freezeout tournament with starting stacks of 6,000 chips. Forty seats will be available at £500 per seat while another ten are to be given up for poker pros and celebrities personally invited by Gold and Eastgate.
Although the cash buy-ins are to be donated to the Jamie Gold Foundation, a seat to the London European Poker Tour’s main event in October worth £5,200 will be awarded to the winner. In addition, leading poker publication Bluff Europe is donating one-on-one strategy training worth £3,000 via TheMavenVT.com to the runner-up. Bluff Europe is also contributing a Gevril watch, which is favoured by top celebrities including James Caan and Denzel Washington, worth £1,500 to the third placed finisher.
Europe’s largest annual poker festival, Poker In The Park will take place from five o’clock in the afternoon until half-past nine in the evening on August 13 from the heart of London’s Leicester Square. The action will also carry on over August 14 from noon until half-past nine in the evening.
Gold and Eastgate are also set to give lectures on both days of Poker In The Park. On August 13, they will speak specifically about the strategy needed to win small tournaments of less than 100 runners before a follow-up lecture the next day featuring stories and references from the earlier evening’s charity event. In addition, both professionals will be on-hand to accept donations for The Jamie Gold Foundation and sign autographs.
