International Poker Open Sells Out

Leading online poker room BoylePoker.com has announced that it has sold all of its remaining direct $250 buy-in seats for the International Poker Open 2009, which takes place from October 16 to 18 at the Regency Hotel in Dublin. However, the site revealed that those interested in taking part could still qualify online through a series of satellites at BoylePoker.com from just $5.50. BoylePoker.com called the International Poker Open 2009 ‘Europe's largest live poker tournament’ and revealed that the total number of registrants now stands at 1,271. The Irish domain stated that that the final few direct buy-in seats for the first day of the event went over the weekend while tickets for the second day sold out several weeks ago. The three-day tournament is on target to exceed last year's record of 1,300 players and needs a total of 1,347 competitors to become the biggest ever game outside of the United States. “We're delighted to have sold out the direct buy-ins almost three weeks before cards are in the air but there are still plenty of opportunities for players to qualify through our online satellites,” said Paul Spillane, Head for BoylePoker.com. “Also expect some more announcements before the biggest game in town gets underway.” Although the second day of the event is completely sold out, players can still qualify for the first courtesy of the Sunday and Tuesday $5.50 satellites featuring one rebuy alongside a single add-on from half-past eight o’clock in the evening London time. These events feed into the Thursday $27.50 freezeout super satellite with one ticket awarded to the initial day of the International Poker Open for every $250 in the prize pool. An innovative twist to this year’s event will see competitors offered the opportunity to increase their starting stack at the live tournament from 8,000 to 10,000 by playing at BoylePoker.com and accumulating VIP Club points. Last year’s International Poker Open and its $37,530 top prize was won by Irishman Ruairi Coy. Professional players enticed to Dublin by the large prize pool included Irish Open winner Neil Channing, Jesse May, Scott Gray, Marty Wilson, Andy Ward, Rory Liffey and Ian Frazer.
