PokerStars.com celebrates 40 billionth hand

Leading online poker site PokerStars.com celebrated dealing its 40 billionth hand last week and marked the occasion with a series of special promotions that awarded added prizes of almost one million dollars. The landmark hand was dealt on February 19 on a $2/$4 no-limit hold'em table with a Swedish player using the pseudonym ‘Senecady' picking up $24,000 for winning the milestone event along with a pot worth $350. The Isle Of Man-licensed domain revealed that every other player at the momentous table also walked away with a prize based on the number of points that they had collected over their previous 40 hands with American competitors ‘thecooler992’ and ‘zawaaa’ walking away with $15,590. Competitor ‘jeckjeck’ from Sweden was awarded $12,400 for taking part in the special hand while Joe Hahn from Holland and French player ‘13_Xerxes_13’ are now richer to the tune of $1,500. In the run-up to its achievement, PokerStars.com marked 400 milestone hands by awarding 2,200 players with in excess of $779,000 over eight days including 155 prizes of at least $1,000. In addition to its milestone hand prizes, PokerStars.com rewarded sit and go players with over $160,000 in cash with a further 147,000 customers entering the site’s eight $40,000 tournaments for a buy-in of just 40 points. The promotion ended on Sunday with the site’s largest ever Sunday Million tournament and saw Swiss player ‘RichieRichZH’ walk away with a top prize of $1.14 million in cash. This special event attracted 36,169 entrants to generate a prize pool of $7.23 million, which made it the world’s fourth largest online tournament behind PokerStars.com’s last three World Championship Of Online Poker main events. For finishing as runner-up after almost 13 hours of play, ‘lankeshwar’ won $754,774 while ‘petinvest7’ took away $506,366 for third.
