UltimateBet.com cancels Aruba Poker Classic

Leading online casino UltimateBet.com has cancelled October’s Aruba Poker Classic 2010 and is switching its attention to the inaugural Four Aces Poker Pro Canada Classic due to be held in Montreal next month. The Kahnawake-licensed domain revealed that it also has plans to develop a monthly $500,000 guaranteed tournament with ‘an eye on building it into a million-dollar event’ while also creating more pro-related competitions and running its UltimateBet.com Online Championship (UBOC) twice a year. “It is with great regret that we are announcing that the Aruba event will not run this year but 2010 is going to be an exciting year for UltimateBet.com and its players,” said Paul Leggett, Chief Operating Officer for Tokwiro Enterprises, the domain’s Quebec-based owner and operator. “Over the last year, we’ve been redefining the UltimateBet.com brand in every way. We love the Aruba Poker Classic event but we think we can do a lot more for our players by investing in new events and rewards.” UltimateBet.com revealed that it will continue offering players access to some of the world’s top tournaments including the World Series Of Poker (WSOP) and the World Poker Tour through online satellites. It stated that customers will also see benefits in the form of ‘major WSOP incentives’ alongside additional loyalty benefits for top competitors. In addition, UltimateBet.com has signed a deal to serve as an official sponsor for the Four Aces Poker Pro Canada Classic, which will be held over four days beginning on April 15 with a buy-in of $1,650, and is set to send 50 players to the event through a series of online satellite tournaments. The Four Aces Poker Pro Canada Classic features three ‘day ones’ with players that bust out on the initial day of the competition able to rebuy into the event with the field’s top ten percent facing off on the Sunday.
