Leading online poker site PKR.com has revealed that armchair sportsmen and women from all over the world can now finally realise their dreams of representing their country thanks to its World Cup promotion. While the likes of Rooney, Ronaldo and Torres do battle in South Africa, the Alderney-licensed next-generation site revealed that its players will take to the felt to play for their own shot at glory and the chance to win cash and signed football memorabilia. PKR.com’s World Cup promotion began on Saturday with a series of six tournaments that see players score points that count towards a qualification leader board. At the end of each series, the top four competitors will earn a place in a six-person national team while the last two spots will be filled by the most successful sit-and-go and heads-up players from the qualifying period. The six teams will then compete through a series of sit-and-go matches for the honour and glory. “Our forums are always full of banter between players from different countries so it will be fascinating to finally see which nation really does produce the best poker players,” said Neil Wright, Card Room Manager for PKR.com. “We wish them the best of luck and look forward to crowning the winning nation in July.”
