Poker plays host to Ladies Night

Women will again take centre stage as The World Poker Tour hosts its second ‘Ladies Night’, pitting the cream of female talent together on December 15.

After the huge success of last year’s event, six players have again been invited, vying for a $25,000 seat at the World Poker Tour Championship and a shot at the tour’s finale, and an anticipated prize pool of $25 million.

Last year’s winner, inexperienced Texan Clonie Gowen, returns again this year hoping to triumph again over more seasoned players, including Wendeen Eolis and Sharon Goldman.

The tournament was a popular draw last year, and will enjoy similar television coverage this time around. The exposure has been a welcome booster for the ladies game, dispelling the myth that poker is an exclusively male pursuit.
