Royal Vegas Poker Begins Search For 2005 WSOP Champion

ALBANY, Channel Islands, March 8, 2005 -- Royal Vegas Poker today announced the chance for all poker players, amateur and expert, the chance to win a seat at the 2005 World Series of Poker for just $1. Online tournament play in Royal Vegas Poker's Road to the WSOP has begun and daily tournaments will run until June 15th, giving everyone the chance to take a piece of this year's $100 million estimated prize pool and play against world's finest players.

Following a 'Rounders' style tournament, players go through six levels of tournament play, with those finishing in the top two of each round continuing to the next level. The winner of the final level tournament's main event will receive a prize package valued at $12,500 which includes:

-- $10,000 buy-in to the WSOP

-- Round trip airline tickets to Las Vegas

-- Hotel accommodations

-- $500 spending cash upon arrive in Las Vegas

Satellite winners will participate in the 2005 WSOP No-limit Texas Hold'em World Championship Event that runs July 7-15th.

The 2004 WSOP saw an unprecedented 2,576 participants, more than tripling the number of 2003 participants. Along with last year's increased participation came an increased prize pool topping $49 million. With no signs of slowing, the 2005 WSOP is expecting over 5,000 entrants, bringing the aggregate prize pool to nearly $100 million.

For the last two years, online players have dominated the field at the World Series of Poker. This includes world-champions Greg 'Fossilman' Raymer (2004) and Chris Moneymaker (2003). In addition, Royal Vegas Satellite winner Rose Richie was the last woman standing in 2004. Rose won her seat at Royal Vegas Poker and took home more than $20,000, showing that top poker skills are honed online.
