Poker Bill Praised by eCogra

The online gaming industry’s regulatory body has welcomed the progress of a bill to legislate online poker in one American state.

eCommerce and Online Gaming Regulation and Assurance’s (eCOGRA) chief executive Andrew Beveridge praised Representative Jim Kasper for sponsoring the legislation for North Dakota, to be heard in the state Senate on March 8, declaring that this step was an important precedent.

Mr Beveridge said that should the bill be passed it would protect poker players through regulation while contributing to the state economy through tax and operational presence.

Gambling regulation has traditionally been the prerogative of individual states, despite occasional interference from the federal government.
