Wednesday 20th April 2005 Big Wins at Pechanga Poker Room’s First Chance Tournaments
Hundreds of eager poker players across southern California head to Pechanga Resort & Casino for their first chance take home their share of the prize pool. The resort and casino’s new state-of-the-art, 54-table poker room offers its monthly ‘First Chance’ tournaments beginning the first Thursday and continuing through the first Sunday of every month.
During the tournaments, players stack up chips worth up to $35,000 in prize pool winnings. This month, Angel Zabala from Riverside, CA started out the tournaments by taking the top spot in the First Chance $5,000 Guaranteed Limit Hold ‘Em tournament. Angel took home $1,245 and beat out 138 other entrants for the number one seat in the tournament.
The competition got stiffer as 190 poker players vied for a shot at the top prize pool in the First Chance Friday night $10,000 Guaranteed Limit Hold ‘Em tournament. Toby Haskell of Mickey Mouse, Anaheim blew away the competition to collect $3,875 as the first place player in Friday night’s showdown. Two hundred thirty-seven excited poker enthusiasts gave this tournament their best play. In the end, Kelly Sprankle of Vista, CA came away the victor and put $4,545 in winnings in her purse.
The First Chance tournaments wrapped up for the month with the $5,000 Guaranteed No Limit Hold ‘Em tournament on Sunday afternoon. Aaron Jarvis from Murrieta, CA came into the tournament facing 165 other contenders and walked away having turned his $35 tournament buy-in into $700 in winnings.
