Virgin Bingo Goes Live

A ‘full house’ from the online gaming industry joined flamboyant billionaire Richard Branson atop a London roof garden on Friday the 27th to celebrate the launch of Virgin Bingo. Branson addressed the assembled crowd at the Roof Gardens in Kensington – one and a half acres of beautiful themed gardens, with bars and a nightclub, installed six-floors up above a London street – to usher in the next phase of Virgin gaming.

Virgin Bingo aims to become the dominant player in the burgeoning UK online bingo market by offering players from all walks of life the chance to win big prizes for low buy-ins. Branson said he hoped that online bingo is set to become ‘the new poker’.

Virgin will be offering games tailor-made to the UK market. “There are currently about 100 bingo games available on the internet,” explained Branson, “nearly all of which are American and offer the US flavoured 75 numbers game. At Virgin, we are launching the game most favoured in the UK, namely a 90 numbers game. Research has shown that this is the game the UK wants to play and nothing pleases us more at Virgin than giving the customers what they want.”

Virgin Bingo will introduce a wide variety of differently priced games (at anything from 5p to £1 per card) with fixed jackpot prizes of £5,000 or more, as well as progressive jackpots that climb higher and higher. “It’s fun, cheap and matches the thrill of a Bingo Hall in the comfort of your own home, or ‘house’ as we shout it bingo,” summarised Branson, before launching a hundred Virgin branded balloons over the capital’s skyline.
