Expert Addresses Significance of Online Poker Craze

As millions tune in to the World Series of Poker and others join the ranks of online poker players, the rules regarding on precisely what is legal and what is not remain unclear.

Field expert Nancy Todd is set to give an overview of the conflicting rules that govern online poker on Thursday June 2 in Washington DC.

From the Wire Act to the WTO decision to DOJ statements, online poker players lack clear guidance. Nancy will address questions such as: Should Congress look to the recent UK legislation as a guide? And how will Senator Kyl�s proposal affect the environment?

Online poker is a $2.9 billion global business this year and expected to double in size by 2008. During peak hours, one site has over 50,000 participants playing on over 5,000 tables on any given day. Online poker is currently the most popular game on the Internet, with Texas Hold �Em as the favourite of millions.

Recent developments such as the WTO decision and the UK�s newest gambling legislation will also be discussed.
