WPT launch new family section on website

In response to the rising popularity of poker amongst families, the World Poker Tour site is now hosting a Family Resource Centre. Aimed as a guidance tool, the new section of the site is dedicated to aiding families who wish to host games at home. This section of the site will be divided into several sections- focusing on different areas of interest for poker playing families.

There has been a definite rise in interest in poker amongst teenagers and even younger children. Whilst not playing for the sort of stakes usually associated with WPT events, the Resource Centre has been developed to provide a responsible and helpful guide to poker for this demographic and their parents. The four sections will be named Family Poker; WPT Home Games; Everything You Need and Educational Poker.

The Family Poker section concentrates on tips and advice for family poker based events, from hosting large scale family tournaments to ideas for using poker as a way of getting children to do their chores. The WPT Home Games section is designed to aid the organised games for friends and family, covering suggestions for entertaining people of all age groups. Everything you Need is a section which covers exactly what the name suggests, with rules, merchandise and recommended books being included in this area. Lastly the Educational Poker section looks at linking poker skills and maths, with a variety of suggestions on how to incorporate the game into promoting maths study within households.

The site launches today, with all of this information now freely available to visitors. Steve Lipscomb, the President of WPT Enterprises said of the site: 'I love it that the all-American card game has literally come home, bringing families into the living room and showing teens that they can have fun at home. At the WORLD POKER TOUR, we think it is our responsibility to leverage our popularity with both teens and adults to bring people together for responsible and age-appropriate poker.'
