US Firm: Online Casino Revenue to Double by 2010

A U.S. consulting firm has reported that online poker will soon be the biggest generator of revenue for online casinos as a result of the game’s ever-increasing popularity and television coverage growth.

Christiansen Capital Advisors predict that by 2010 the revenues from online casinos will have reached $24.5 billion – double the current figures for the industry – with the increase expected to come largely from poker services.

Online poker has enjoyed a meteoric rise over the past 12 months and the gaming industry will be delighted to hear that the trend is expected to continue. Poker is currently America’s most popular televised game after football and car-racing, with big companies such as Playtech investing 40% of its resources into the development of future poker products.
