Poker Players Unite Under One Flag

The one seemingly missing element in officially crystallizing poker's newfound sports status a united organization – akin to golf's PGA – to act as an authoritative governing body over for all players. However, the World Federation of Poker (WFP) aims to provide exactly that – an umbrella organisation that will cater to the welfare of all poker aficionados.

The non-profit organization has recruited an advisory panel of some of the world's best poker players including Annie Duke, Greg Raymer, Robert Williamson III, Clonie Gowan, and Howard Lederer. The aim is for them to promote the notion of an international governing body and garner widespread support for the venture from as many professional players as possible.

They also hope to introduce a World Cup of Poker with up to 40 countries participating in the Las Vegas event.
