New ESPN Poker Drama from the Writers of Rounders

ESPN has commissioned ‘Tilt’ a new poker drama, which will chronicle the lives of six fictional poker players in the run up to the World Series, and is expected to start shooting mid-November. Executive producers on the show are Brian Koppelman and David Levien, co-writers of the 1998 hit film, Rounders, starring Matt Damon.

'We thought a drama was a logical next step for the genre,' said Mark Shapiro, executive vice president for programming and production. 'When you have lightning in a bottle, you convert it into a six-pack.'

ESPN says that Tilt will be far more complimentary to poker players than its controversial drama “Playmaker” was to football players. Playmaker was pulled in February after receiving for portraying professional athletes in a bad light.

'Tilt' will be scheduled Thursdays at 9 pm. Koppelman and Levien will write and direct the pilot and pen some other episodes.
