Poker Sisters Are Doing it for Themselves

First it was female-only poker forums, then female-only freeroll tournaments and now televised poker play is the latest getting the girl’s treatment. Yes, Challenge TV in the UK is planning to air two new shows, sponsored by 888.com.

The cleverly titled Women’s Poker (see what they’ve done there?) will go out at 10pm every night between April 3 and April 17, starring celebrities, poker pros and home viewers. Then from April 17, Showbiz Poker will dispense with the riff raff and real poker players, so that celebs can compete for a £25,000 prize fund.

Challenge believe they’re about to “clean up” with the women’s market, seeing as they are the fastest growing online sector. This remains to be seen, but if they can come up with snappy show titles like these then surely the market’s there for the taking.
