WPT Five Star World Poker Classic Begins

After all the hype, the satellites and people desperately begging for a buy-in, the 4th annual WPT Five Star World Poker Classic has started at the Bellagio, Las Vegas. 600 players who have either paid in $25,000 themselves or won their way through, are competing for a slice of the massive $15 million prize pool. The winner alone is expected to take home $4 million.

The first day of the tourney has been split over two days to accommodate everyone, with each participant receiving 50,000 chips. The pace therefore is expected to be that of a snail for the time being. Although, you can guarantee though that come the end, there'll be a flurry of activity as the world's best players go head-to-head.

Already, Finland's Patrik Antonius has more than quadrupled his chip count, making himself an early favourite. He is being chased (in chip count at least) by Evelyn Ng and Jennifer Harman. This doesn't even look like beginning to come to a conclusion so it's probably best to forget any plans for the coming week and kick back and try to keep up with the action. With so many top players taking part, there's every chance of picking up some decent tips as well as watching some world class play.
