$10 Million Poker Game Cancelled

It was always looking unlikely. Now, FSN and Mansion’s plans for a $10 million buy-in, winner takes all tournament, have been scrapped. Talks began last December about the event, which was due to pit six of the world’s best (not to mention richest) players against each other in an extreme high-stakes game. However, with only Phil Ivey confirmed to take part, FSN and Mansion have agreed the whole idea just isn’t going to work and are now planning to hold on until July 2007.

It is believed that FSN executives had serious reservations about producing the $10 million event while they are working on the Mansion Poker Dome at the same time. 'To produce them both simultaneously would compromise the quality of each, a concession FSN is not willing to make,” said FSN’s Vice President of Programming and Production, George Greenberg. For now then, top pros can close their personal bank vaults and rest easy without the thought of losing a large slice of their fortune. Until next year that is.
